- Take a Day Trip. Most dogs love to ride in the car. Take your dog along if youâre visiting friends or family. For a special treat, include a side trip to do some shopping with your dog. Some dogs love to browse at pet supply stores (many of which allow you to bring your dog inside). Your dog may ask for a treat or two, or some dog toys, so be prepared to spend a little money on this outing!
- Play Frisbee. Dogs who love to play Frisbee, either purely for pleasure or in competition, are called disc dogs. Some dogs wonât allow their people to play without them! If your dog loves to play ball, you may want to buy a disc and get your dog involved in this great form of exercise!
- Go for a Hike. Though most national parks donât allow dogs on trails, there are many state parks that do. Almost every city has trails pretty close by that you can explore with your canine companion.

Make Your Own Dog Toys!
Posted: 09/1/10 8:00 AM | Filed Under: Blog | No Comments »
If your dog loves to play tog-of-war with you or with other dogs, then he’ll love this toy that is both cheap and really easy to make!
Here’s how to make this braided tug-of-war rope for your special pet:
- Buy some single-color fleece from any fabric store. For obvious reasons, avoid printed fleece, because you won’t be able to see the pattern once it’s braided.
- Cut any color fleece into three or four one-and-a-half inch wide strips. Depending on the size of your dog, make the strips as long or as short as you’d like.
- Clip the tops of each of the strips together, and begin braiding. You can either braid with the typical three strips, or 4-plait braiding, which tends to look nicer and hold together better. Â But you have to be careful not to pull too hard in the beginning or your braided tug of war rope will all come undone. If you want to, you can tie the first knot before you begin plaiting.
After playing with your mutt with one of his new dog toys, reward him with a tasty k9 quencher! He’ll love you forever if you quench his thirst with a peanut butter flavored dog beverage! To purchase dogdration today, visit our online store!
How To Get Your Hungry Pup Eating Again
Posted: 08/31/10 5:27 PM | Filed Under: Blog | No Comments »
Sometimes dogs can eat until they explode, but other dogs are a little more sensible when it comes to their appetite. You know how often your dog eats, but if for some reason he’s not eating as much, or eating nothing at all, for several hours or several days, you may need to check it out further.
Usually a drop in appetite is no reason to panic. However, if you are worried, here are some tips that can get you and your dog back on the healthy track:
- Your dog could be avoiding eating if you suddenly and unexpectedly change their pet food. If this is the case, the food itself could be the root of the problem for your pup.
- If your dog is still refusing to eat, offer his regular or preferred food for him for 15 minutes and then pick it up. After an hour or so, try it again. If you serve his food dry only, add a bit of hot water, or a k9 quencher like dogdration, to increase the smell, which can get your dog’s nose interested.
- After a day, if your dog’s activity level remains the same, wait and try again, adding a bit of meat or broth to his food. If he still refuses to eat after two or three days or if your dog seems disinterested in his normal routine, or if he is noticeably loosing weight, it’s time to consult a vet.

Most importantly, dogdration is a premium dog beverage made right here in the United States, bottled and manufactured in Santa Cruz county, California.
Dogs are always at risk for canine dehydration, so it is important to keep your dog hydrated and healthy. Â Dehydration in dogs is a condition that occurs when the water in the dog’s body is less than normal.
Water makes up more than 90 percent of a dog’s weight. A 10 percent loss of fluid in the body can cause the dog to be extremely ill from dehydration.
A dog is dehydrated when she loses both water and the minerals in the water (electrolytes), such as sodium, chloride and potassium.
Dehydration occurs either because there is a lack of water intake to replenish fluid loss due to panting and urinating, or because there is an increase in water loss due to illness or injury.
If your dog is uninterested in tap water, then try dogdration, to ensure that your dog stays healthy and hydrated. Â Your pup will probably not be able to resist the beverage’s tasty peanut flavor. Â That’s why dogdration is the ultimate canine quencher.
Pick up some dogdration at one of our local retailers, or order the K9 super fuel online today.
Alleviate Canine Dehydration
Posted: 05/14/10 9:32 PM | Filed Under: Blog | 1 Comment »According to VetInfo, dog dehydration results from an excessive loss of body fluids due to exposure to extreme heat, illness, or not drinking enough water. Â It involves not only the loss of water, but also the loss of minerals and electrolytes in a dog’s body.
Some side effects to dog dehydration are:
Sunken and dry eyes- Heavy panting
- Vomiting
- Depression
- Lethargic behavior
- Diarrhea
- Increased heart rate
- Dry gums, mouth and nose
- Loss of appetite
- Excessive drooling
Canine dehydration is a very serious, and common, condition. Â However, it can easily be avoided. Â If you notice that your dog has any of the above symptoms, take the following precautions:
- Provide your dog with clean, good-tasting water in a clean bowl. Â If they are used to tasting bad water, or seeing things floating in their water, they may be less likely to drink from their water bowl. Â Be sure to rinse out your dog’s water bowl every few days, or at least once a week, to keep his water clean and healthy.
- If you notice that your dog is not drinking the tap water in his bowl, try flavored water, like dogdration. This canine beverage will keep your dog hydrated, while providing him with necessary vitamins and electrolytes, which also work to prevent dehydration.
- Offer your dog canned, wet food, or pour dogdration over your dogâs dry food, This measure will hydrate your dog by increasing his water intake.
After these simple measures, your dog should be completely relieved of any canine dehydration symptoms.
To ensure that your dog stays hydrated, order dogdration online today.
Does Your Pup Need An Electrolyte Supplement?
Posted: 05/8/10 1:46 AM | Filed Under: Blog | 4 Comments »
Few people recognize the importance of electrolytes in our daily diets. Â They prevent dehydration by replenishing the body’s water supply. Â Athletes, for example, who work out in extreme conditions are not in danger of becoming dehydrated if they have plenty of electrolytes in their system.
Electrolytes have the same effect on dogs.  Dehydration in dogs involved not only loss of water, but also loss of electrolytes, which are minerals such as sodium, chloride and potassium.
Electrolytes are important because they are used by cells to maintain voltages across their cell membranes and to carry electrical impulses across themselves and to other cells. Â Kidneys work to keep the electrolyte concentrations in your blood constant despite changes in the body. Â When humans and animals sweat or pant, they lose electrolytes. Â These electrolytes need to be replaced to keep the electrolyte concentrations of your body fluids constant.
Maintaining your dog’s electrolyte concentration is especially important when he is experiencing chronic vomiting, or diarrhea, as these viruses cause them to lose electrolytes extremely fast.
dogdration is a premium dog water, complete with electrolytes in addition to other supplements like glucosamine and vitamin C, to help your pup stay healthy and hydrated. Â Many sports drinks have electrolytes in them, but they’re extremely high in sugar and sodium, which can be unhealthy for dogs. Â dogdration’s allergen-free peanut flavor is a healthy and tasty alternative to both sports drinks and regular tap water.
To keep your dog hydrated and replenished, order dogdration online today or call 816.665.8627.

Do not make this same mistake.
So to keep your dog hydrated, and to avoid overheating, be sure to provide him with water throughout your entire trip. Â Even in just a short car trip, your dog can start panting and lose a lot of liquid.

What Are Common Dog Health Problems?
Posted: 04/28/10 8:00 AM | Filed Under: Blog | 4 Comments »
Dogs are usually fairly healthy animals that are easy to care for. However, there are several common dog health problems that are seen throughout every breed.
These health issues can be easily avoided, however.
Hip and joint problems- Particular types of breeds, especially larger dogs, are more prone to hip and joint pain than others. The breeds the most likely to have joint problems are Rottweilers, Bernese Mountain Dogs and Newfoundlands. If you notice your dog limping or suffering due to pain in their hips or joint, which may be caused by problems such arthritis, consider the following tips when feeding and caring for your pet:
- Maintain your dogâs weight at a healthy spot. Obesity is one of the main causes for hip and joint problems in dogs, so keeping them slim is the best way to avoiding these problems. dogdration, with its added electrolyte supplements, boosts your dogâs energy to keep him active and energetic throughout the day, which burns extra calories that your dog consumes.
- If your dog is at a healthy weight, but still has arthritis problems, you may want to consider glucosamine supplements. Glucosamine is a nutrient that is found in joints, and additional supplements prevent cartilage degeneration and can treat arthritis.
Heartworm- This is a parasitic disease spread by mosquito bites. The parasitic worms live inside chambers of your dogâs heart, and cause symptoms like coughing, difficulty breathing, lack of desire to exercise, and, worst of all, congestive heart failure. However, heartworm is easily preventable:
- Simply give your dog a monthly dose of heartworm preventative medicine, like Heartguard, or any other brand.
Dog dehydration- Though easily avoided, dog dehydration is a common ailment among many canines and canine owners. To keep your dog well hydrated, use these simple steps:
- Try flavored water, like dogdration, if you find that your dog is not happy with just tap water. These k9 quenchers will sure hit the spot, in a addition to acting as a sort of âsuperfuelâ for your dog.
- Offer your dog canned, wet food, or pour dogdration over your dogâs dry food, to avoid dehydration and by increasing their water intake.
