How To Get Your Hungry Pup Eating Again

Sometimes dogs can eat until they explode, but other dogs are a little more sensible when it comes to their appetite. You know how often your dog eats, but if for some reason he’s not eating as much, or eating nothing at all, for several hours or several days, you may need to check it out further.

Usually a drop in appetite is no reason to panic. However, if you are worried, here are some tips that can get you and your dog back on the healthy track:

  1. Your dog could be avoiding eating if you suddenly and unexpectedly change their pet food. If this is the case, the food itself could be the root of the problem for your pup.
  2. If your dog is still refusing to eat, offer his regular or preferred food for him for 15 minutes and then pick it up. After an hour or so, try it again. If you serve his food dry only, add a bit of hot water, or a k9 quencher like dogdration, to increase the smell, which can get your dog’s nose interested.
  3. After a day, if your dog’s activity level remains the same, wait and try again, adding a bit of meat or broth to his food. If he still refuses to eat after two or three days or if your dog seems disinterested in his normal routine, or if he is noticeably loosing weight, it’s time to consult a vet.

Do You Think Your Dog Gets Bored With Its Pet Food?

If your dog begins emptying the cat bowl before he empties his own, he may be bored with his regular pet food.  Especially if your dog is older, and has been eating the same pet food  for years, it may be time for a change.

Not a change in dog food, but a change in flavorful and healthful treats!  While food changes in a dog’s diet may lead to stomach upset and diarrhea, there is no harm in adding some flavor to your dog’s bland food.

To supplement your dog’s dry food, try pouring some dogdration into his bowl, over the food, and sit back and watch as he devours his now savory cuisine!  The deionized liquid also adds some essential vitamins to your dog’s diet.  Within the beverage are all natural ingredients, allergen-free peanut flavor and glucosamine for hip and joint health.

In addition to the added flavor in your dog’s food, you can also give them gourmet dog treats, to curb their appetites.

Simply fill an ice tray with the premium pet water, freeze, and you have yummy peanut butter dog treats to spice up and vitalize their day.
